DEATH AND TAXES
BE A REVOLUTIONARY!

By: Ron Marr

I'm a firm believer in the theory of "if it ain't broke , don't fix it." Unfortunately, most things eventually break. For instance, my oldest dog has had a bum leg for many years. My vet and I fixed that arthritic appendage (more or less) via medication, diet and plenty of care and exercise. At age 16, old Wowie dog may not be the speediest pup in the pack, but he's happy, healthy, can still run across the yard, and usually wins in games of tug 'o war.

I've fixed my other dogs too...but that procedure involved snipping and cutting and the very thought makes me nervous. This just goes to show that sometimes animals get fixed when they aren't even broken. But I digress. There are times when stuff is fatally flawed. I suspect my garbage disposal fits into this category (it sounds like somebody dropped a cat in there) as do Iowa, gun-haters, rabid environmentalists, Rosey O'Donnell, Barbara Streisand, all the Clintons, every Kennedy and Jesse Jackson. That's just the tip of the iceberg, but you get the idea.

Sometimes broken things cannot be fixed. Sometimes they should simply be tossed out with the trash.

That's the situation with the Internal Revenue Service. If you missed it, a recent federal report revealed just how productive and efficient our "Revenuers" really are. The study found that over half of all IRS employees spend their working hours playing on the internet. They go to chat rooms, drool over porno, gamble, trade stocks and catch up with the sports pages.

A second report displayed results equally heinous. According to the General Accounting Office, The IRS only answers 60% of calls coming to their toll free "help" lines. Of the calls that are answered, inaccurate or wholly incorrect information is provided 27% of the time.

The study also checked walk-in IRS sites. Based on 90 consumer contacts, service was flatly denied seven times. The remaining 83 customers received incorrect answers in 49% of all cases

You're probably just shaking your head at this point, figuring there's nothing you can do, assuming that to face the IRS is to face certain doom. You're wrong. I'm about to give you the opportunity to become a fire-breathing, rabble rousing activist the likes of which has not been seen since the sack of Rome. Best of all, you don't even have to leave the Lazy Boy. All you need is a phone or computer. In short...you can demonstrate the form of sloth I exhibit on a daily basis.

Here's how it works. Republican representative Ron Paul of Texas has introduced a bill (#H.J. RES. 45) entitled "The Liberty Amendment." This bill calls for the abolishment of the federal income tax, the capital gains tax and the estate (death) tax. In his own words, the purpose of the bill is this:

"The United States existed for nearly 140 years without an income tax. During that time, the federal government generally adhered to its limited constitutional functions. The federal income tax, authorized by the Sixteenth Amendment in 1913, fundamentally changed the role of the federal government in American life. Income tax revenues enabled government to grow wildly beyond its legitimate functions. Today, the massive federal bureaucracy regulates virtually every aspect of national life. The federal income tax has resulted in a tragic loss of liberty for all Americans.

H.J. Res. 45 - The Liberty Amendment is very simple. It would abolish the Sixteenth Amendment, thereby eliminating the federal income tax. It would also abolish the federal capital gains and estate taxes. The federal government would get very little of our money, as only excise or sales taxes could be imposed. With little revenue, the federal government returns to its proper constitutional size. The Liberty Amendment would also prohibit the federal government from engaging in any business activity that competes with private businesses (except as provided by the Constitution) and require the federal government to sell properties that were used in those business activities.

Is eliminating the federal income tax impossible? No. Millions of Americans still believe in liberty. They, therefore, question the validity of the federal tax code, the I.R.S. and the Sixteenth Amendment itself. They understand that the federal leviathan is out of control. The Liberty Amendment can serve as a flashpoint for all of these millions of voices. A citizen can verbally oppose the federal income tax or he can take action to abolish it. The Liberty Amendment is not an academic exercise. It is not a political statement or an abstract ideal. It is real legislation before the U.S. House of Representatives now. It can become law. It will become law if every liberty-minded American tells his U.S. representative that his re-election will depend upon his support of this Amendment."

I couldn't agree more, and thus have informed nearly 500,000 readers of this bill in the past week and asked them to join the fight. I'm hoping each of you will contact just five or 10 friends or relatives, and ask them to do the same. People may visit the following website to send their thoughts to their representatives...click here
Or they may call up their elected officials directly. Just tell them you support Ron Paul's Liberty Amendment - Bill # H.J.RES. 45.

Be a revolutionary! Don't just talk the talk! Walk the walk!
